I'm a huge lover of skincare products and D.I.Y skincare masks and remedies. So I thought I would share one of my secrets masks I've recently been obsessed with making. I've never been the one to have good skin, I've suffered from really bad acne in the past, as well as hyperpigmentation, dark marks, scarring and clogged pores. My skin has always been a huge struggle for me, and I've always gone to great lengths to try anything and everything to improve the clarity of my skin. Usually I'm not the one to be complimented for my skin, but recently my family and friends have noticed a massive difference in the complexion of my skin. From all the dark marks I use to have and the dull appearance of my skin, it looks so much lighter and I've been told I have a more glowy look to my skin. So it shows to me I've been doing something right in my skincare routine.
Since I started using this D.I.Y mask twice a week, I've noticed such a big difference in my skin, and I thought it's definitely worth being shared for those who suffer from similar skin problems as me.
However I will say, I'm no skincare expert and this is my own personal account of how this mask has helped me. So it may not work the same on you (just a little disclaimer!). Also- every mask works differently depending on your skin type/allergies, so I recommend that you do a skin-patch test before trying.
When I first tried this mask, it gave my skin a tingling feeling, however that's normal and expected. If you feel burning sensations then wash off immediately because that could be a sign of an allergic reaction, which is why I recommend you to do a skin-patch test first before applying.
TURMERIC, RICE FLOUR, YOGHURT & ROSEWATER FACE MASK
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2tbsp yoghurt
2tbsp rice flour
A few drops of rosewater
Leave on until the mask fully dries up and then wash off with a damp muslin cloth. If you don't have a muslin cloth, then wash off in circular motions as this allows the rice flour grains to exfoliate your skin and allows removal of dead skin cells.
The rice flour absorbs the excess oil off greasy skin, allows brightening of the skin and reduces hyperpigmentation and dark marks. The yoghurt is moisturising and hydrates the skin. Turmeric gives the skin a glow and lightens it. Rosewater cools the skin down and soothes it. Rosewater has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness of irritated skin and helps to get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema. It is a great cleanser and aids in removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores.
